Easy access to in-depth features.

Take control of your creativity!

  • Visual feedback interface

The large LCD display features two-way control that lets you see the exact power of every light in your setup right on the transmitter. Users can control each light's power level and modelling lamp setting directly from the transmitter, which instantly shows the updated power settings.

  • ODS (Over Drive Sync)

ODS enables users to fine tune the Skyport Plus HS transmitter's trigger signal to optimize exposure at high shutter speeds while gaing up to 2 more f-stops of light.

  • Remote control

Not only a trigger device; it is also a remote control for up-to 10 Elinchrom flash units with built-in receivers. Control and set the flash power and the modelling lamp in 4 Groups or individually.

  • Improved reliability

The EL-Skyport HS has a total of 20 frequency channels that can be used for either Normal or Speed mode. Users can instantly distinguish which sync mode they are in as the back-lit display glows green for normal mode, and red for speed mode. They can also enjoy a range up to 200 m (656’) outdoors and up to 60 m (196’) indoors.

  • Compatibility

The EL-Skyport HS represents a seamless extension of the EL-Skyport family since it is also compatible with the three previous generations of flash units (including the EL-Skyport Transceiver RX module for Style RX, Digital RX, and Ranger RX systems, the integrated EL-Skyport modules for D-Lite RX, BRX, ELC Pro HD and ELB series.)

  • Future-proof

The transmitter attaches easily and securely to the hotshoe with its bayonet locking system and is powered by 2x AA batteries. It also features an integrated AF illuminator for fast focusing and a mini-USB socket for firmware updates.

Skyport HS Compatibility

Which Elinchrom unit is fully compatible?

A compatibility chart with flash units, settings and functionnalities is available on our website.
Please see below:

How good is Hi-Sync?

What results can I expect at a 1/8000s?

Hi-Sync is camera, flash and shutter speed dependant.

The gradient effect can be minimized with specific Hi-Sync equipment such as the Quadra HS flash head or D-Lite RX 4, with the ODS functionnality or by simply reducing the shutter speed on the camera.

What is Hi-Sync?

I need more informations about Hi-Sync technology.

Hi-Sync is the exclusive Elinchrom technology to go beyond the X-Sync of your DSLR camera.

You can easily set up and trigger your DSLR camera up to 1/8000s shutter speed

This allows you to freeze motion, overpower the sun, darken background and use wider aperture.

For more information on Hi-Sync technology:

HSS, Hi-Sync, HS, HyperSync?

HSS, Hi-Sync, HS, HyperSync. What's all this?

All these allow you to achieve high shutter speed.

  • Hi-Sync (HS) is an Elinchrom technology which is similar to HyperSync from PocketWizard but is much easier to use and produces better results.
  • HSS on the other hand is a less powerful tool e.g. your lights need to be very close to your subject to be effective.

More information about HS and HSS technologies:

What is ODS?

What is the ODS feature on the Skyport HS?

ODS means Over Drive Sync.

It enables to fine tune the Skyport HS's trigger signal to optimize exposure at high shutter speeds while gaining more light.

The ODS Setup offers adjustment from 0.1 to 5.0 ms or can be switched off.

The ODS value will vary depending on the camera and the flash unit used, and must be adjusted manually.

Skyport HS user manual

Where can I find the manual for the Skyport HS?

Skyport HS Firmware update

How can I update the firmware of my Skyport Plus HS?

The firmware of the Skyport HS can be updated via the mini USB socket.

Please download the Elinchrom Updater software available on our website:

Use a Canon Skyport HS on a Nikon camera and reverse

Is the Skyport Plus HS for Nikon also usable on manual when mounted on a Canon? I don't need the Hi-Sync feature, just for triggering.

Yes you can use it manually.

Only the hot-shoe middle contact is available to trigger Elinchrom flash units.

You can use a Canon Skyport HS on a Nikon or a Nikon Skyport HS on a Canon in manual mode. You can still controll power and see the unit displayed on the Skyport HS.

But Hi-Sync and ODS features are not available and will not have any effect!

Unit not displayed on the Skyport HS

I can't find my old unit on the display when doing a scan.

Units equipped with a plug-in Transceiver RX are limited in remote features.

These units can however be triggered and controlled (but with no visual feedback) by the Skyport HS.
For more information about compatibility, please check this page.

Skyport HS don't recognize the unit

I cannot get the Skyport to recognize my unit. I have tried every frequency across both units but nothing seems to work.

Activate the EL-Skyport receiver in your unit.
  1. Switch on the EL-Skyport receiver in the unit.
  2. Set Group and Frequency channel to 1.
  3. Set the sync mode of the unit to NORMAL SYNC mode under the ELSP feature, the backlit display should appear green.
